      Sales Development Representative Interview

      Mar 26, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Mill Valley, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Glassdoor (Mill Valley, CA) in Feb 2015

      Interview

I had a phone screen at first that went great the lady was super stoked on me and sent me to the next stage which was to talk to the sales manager. I then spoke with the sales manager about three days later and he asked pretty standard questions. This process of the interview went great and the people were awesome and seemed really stoked to have me come in. My in person interview was a few weeks later and I spoke with four people. None of these people I feel had the right to decide if I was a good candidate. Two of them were people in the SDR role that I was applying for and although they were nice people it was kind of a joke. The other people I spoke too was someone who was not even involved in the position I was applying for and then the sales manager. Even though everyone was nice, they were young maybe in their 20s and I have to say again not the people I would hope would be hiring me..... With all that said I left feeling great like I killed the interview only to find a few days later that I did not get the job. I think that if a company is not interested in you they should not act like they are. After all that I talked to many more much better companies that pay way better. I really do not think glassdoor really knows what they are doing or looking for when it comes to hiring someone. Not to brag but I had five other offers from better companies that pay way better in the end and I am happy where I ended up. I think glassdoor is a great company and they do helpful things, but the people running the sales floor are young and do not have the right to choose candidates for the position.

I apologize that you did not hear back from us on our decision to move in another direction. A big goal of mine is to provide a better candidate experience and part of that is keeping you in the loop. We are working on making this a reality asap. Congratulations on your other offers. There are some great companies in the Bay Area so I'm not surprised that you had other offers. However, I do not agree that the SDRs and the team that you met with do not have the right to decide if you're a good candidate or not. We have a star team of SDRs that are innovative, hard working, smart and have a ton of GRIT. I trust the opinion of everyone on our team and each opinion is taken very seriously when we are interviewing potential future team mates. I also trust their opinion regardless of age. Maybe your comment about age is a reflection in some of the questions that we asked or about how we conducted ourselves, but I'm sure it's not purely about how old we are. If you have any specific feedback for me please feel free to email at eric.gonzalez@glassdoor.com Eric Gonzalez Senior Manager, Sales Development

      Interview

I met Marijka and Caroline who made me feel so at ease from the second I walked in the door. They were both chatty and bubbly and allowed for a very open conversation. It was around my background and how my experience can relate to the position. A few competency based questions thrown in too. Mainly about what motivates you and your growth mindset. The interview was 45 minutes and the a 30 minute role play.

      Interview

Overall interview process was one of the nicest interviews I’ve had. First phone call with recruiter, (informal and get to know you and a bit on your background) This lead to an on site interview the following week with two sales managers. Two genuine lovely women who I connected with immediately. 45 mins of competency based interview questions Then a 15 minute mock call.

      Interview

I had a phone screen with a recruiter who went through why I wanted to work there and general questions such as why I’m looking to move and my salary expectations etc. I then had a face to face interview with manager which was a 45 minute competency based interview and then a 15 minute qual call that I had to prepare for and I also had to prepare a question that was asked in the interview - how I would secure 100 opportunities in a quarter.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How I prepared for the interview? What I know about glassdoor? How I perform in teams? How I like to be managed? My 5 year plan?
