I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at General Mills (Golden Valley, MN)
Interview
The General Mills team does an excellent job working with their candidates. I was constantly impressed by the great communication from the first email extending an interview offer, all the way to the personal phone call and email presenting the job offer. They would often say "you should hear back within 2-3 weeks" and I would always hear back within 3 days. For being such a large company, I was impressed with how quickly this process moved along.
My process started with me locating and applying through the job posting found on the General Mills career website. The next week, I received an email inviting me to schedule a phone interview with one of their Sr. Associate Marketing Managers. This first 30-minute call was very well structured, and the interviewer clearly outlined how the interview would go (i.e. I was given time to walk through my resume, 3 behavioral questions, and time for me to ask questions at the end).
After the phone interview, I received an invitation to complete in-person interviews at the WHQ in Golden Valley, MN and to complete a few assessments (Hogan Personality; Hogan Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory; and CEB-Deductive Reasoning). Scheduling for the in-person interview was simple and I was emailed the final details for my interview the day before I was to come in. The entire day on-site lasted under 3 hours. I even had the opportunity to meet with a couple HR representatives before my interviews, who gave me a great swag bag filled with GM treats, to talk through how my day would look, to go over any questions I had, and to discuss salary requirements if I were to be extended an offer. I was then kindly escorted to the conference room where all 3 of my 1-on-1 interviews would be held. Each interview was 30-minutes, and consisted of different, pre-selected, behavioral questions. Two of the interviewers were managers from the marketing team and one was an HR manager. After my 1-on-1 interview time, I had the opportunity to "informally" meet up with a current Marketing Associate to discuss the role and to get any remaining questions answered. I really enjoyed the personal touch of having someone currently in the role take time to meet with me. The entire day I felt that people cared about having me there and truly wanted it to be a great experience.
Two business days after I completed my in-person interviews, I received a phone call from one of the HR managers to extend me an offer for the role and to walk me through all the other benefits that come along with being an employee for General Mills.
General Mills has always been a company I've admired and respected, and this interview process definitely supported and confirmed my view point.
