I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Gap in May 2011
Interview
I filled out an online application which was about scheduling availability, customer service knowledge, some fashion knowledge, etc, along with the usual information you would expect on an application. I was called to schedule an interview a few days afterward. The interview was one on one and the questions focused on customer service/sales skills. The manager also told me about how their scheduling worked and their emphasis on employees making sales. I was also asked to go around the store for 5 minutes and create an outfit. Then I was asked to demonstrate (with the interviewer) how I would sell that outfit to a potential customer.

The manager went around asking questions and about 2 people can answer per question...At the end the manager said there was going to be 2nd interviews but didn't clarify whether she was going to call or you just show up at the time announced. Never got a call...

Interview
Sat outside Gap in public area in mall, casually asked a few questions. The interviewer was very nice and the interview was easy and relaxed. Gap seemed like a great place to work, I just ended up deciding against a part time job this year.
