I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at GE (Louisville, KY) in Nov 2013
Interview
After you apply online you receive a call from the HR department wanting to set up an interview. On interview day you will interview with an HR person, and both heads of the intern program separately. They were 30 minute interviews each. The interviews are casual and they ask what related classes you have taken and when you graduate. Then they ask your typical interview questions (strengths and weaknesses). Then they ask scenario based questions.

Question 1
What previous experience have you had working with a team on solving problems as a team?
Sent off application including CV and cover letter. Completed an online talent assessment in which you choose the best and worst response in the given situation, quite easy. Then got invited to do a video interview, with 4/5 competency questions, quite straight forward. Position was full so did not get invited to an interview in my office of choice, was offered one in Newcastle, but declined.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GE (Salt Lake City, UT)
Interview
Phone Screen. Behavior questions and resume walkthrough. Site interview. 3 30-minute interviews that were mostly behavior, some very question based and the last interview a casual conversation about what I was expecting in my internship. All very behavior based with the exception of some "do you know how to do..." in each interview, questioning whether or not I knew how to do certain things. Everyone was very friendly and upbeat.
