Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Your background. Why GE, why do you quit your previous employer. Your best achievement. How do you feel about expatriation in CZ. How do you face a safety issue. Gimme a failure mode related to turbines. To what this failure mode can lead. How is rated an "in flight shut down" (MIN, MAJ, HAZ ?) and why.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GE Aerospace (Cheltenham, Inglaterra) in Oct 2012
Interview
Approached by prime recruiter. Telephone interview (about 45 mins to one hour). The interviewer was mainly interested in my background skills and experience. It felt more like an informal chat. Having said this, I now understand that the interview process may have changed. They tend to ask standard software development questions. These are straightforward, although I strongly recommend preparing clear, succinct answers. The interviewer may also remain silent on the other end of the phone after you deliver the answer... a standard interview technique (don't be thrown by this!) Personally, I don't think this technique should be applied to telephone interviews; you can't see the interviewer and so you don't get any reaction at all, and at times you think that you have got disconnected...

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at GE Aerospace (Southampton, Inglaterra)
Interview
Had a 8 hour interview day with 6 of us that consisted of a group introduction and company background presentation. Then we put through a few test like team work, macanical, math, formal and unforamal one to one interviews. Then finally a tour of the site, we had a senior apprentice with each of us throughout the day taking us to each place and keeping us company. By far the best interview i have attended and was focus on getting us comfortable to assessing us properly for the job that we were applying for. Cant fault it at all really and i must of attended 15 similar interviews this year and was accpeted a few but could not say no even though before the interview it was not my choice.
