The hiring loop has three steps:
- first I talked to the talent partner in form3. Super nice person, we connected instantly and I knew that this was the culture I was looking for. She was super open, answered every question I had, and explained the process in detail.
- then there's the take home exercise. While it's not a crazy algorithms challenge, it is detailed work. They give you no deadline to complete it by. It's entirely up to the candidate to decide when to submit the solution. We all know life can be crazy at times, so I appreciate this flexibility on their end.
- the final step is the technical interview itself. It's a three parts interview, each with a different engineer. First there's a review of the take home exercise, very friendly. Then there was a more theoretical part including questions about networking, TCP/IP protocol, cloud computing, etc. And finally there's a sort of role playing in which you are asked to answer an on-call page.
The technical interview sounds a lot scarier than it actually is. The talent partner made sure to explain every detail of it to me. I had a few days to prepare, and the interview was exactly as I'd been told it would be.
