Long. Initial phone conversation, technical interview, technical skill assessment, 30 minute presentation in front of a panel. I was told the presentation was to be interactive, but nobody said a word. No follow up - I waited two weeks and then reached out to be told that although I did very well on the technical assessment, there were unspecified "concerns" after the presentation.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked me to rate myself on SQL proficiency. I said 5 out of 5. Only question was how does a left join work. Assessment test was designed to trip you up, but once I realized that it wasn't too tough, but still took over an hour.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Databricks
Interview
1. Quick phone screen with recruiter
2. Interview with hiring manager - more a resume walkthrough and talking about interests
3. Take home coding assignment. Given 3 options, pick 1. Not too difficult
4. Soft skills interview - behavioral
5. 1 hr presentation. Given a case to prepare for. More of a discussion on your proposed solution. Hiring manager helps prepare.
6. 3 back-to-back 1 on 1. 1 conversational, one technical (ML, Spark, SQL), last one a fit interview
Overall difficult but smooth process. Everyone was super helpful along the way and they really want you to succeed. Recruiter was very responsive.

Interview
Applied online followed by a recruiter phone screening then a hiring manager interview that was one sided and focused on his arrogance and what he is looking for.
I said from day 1 that i haven’t worked with spark extensively and i can learn fast. After that they ghosted me and didn’t provide any feedback.
