      Senior Accountant Interview

      Feb 20, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I interviewed at Crossover for Work

      Interview

At first seemed to go smoothly till the live real assessment section came up and what should take two hours was ascribed barely one hour to complete. No room was given for re-moderation nor was there any avenue to complain. Also based on reviews I saw on Quora, i just had to let it all go.

      Interview

Very little human involvement in the process makes the entire thing seem pointless. I passed all the screening tests they put out there...easily but my application was still rejected by a "hiring manager". If you are going to make someone jump through all these hoops, the least the company can do is to put a successful candidate in front of a human being. I would have been less disappointed if I didn't pass any of the tests but to pass all and still be rejected is painful. I wish them all the best but this was a massive time waster.

      Senior Accountant Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Crossover for Work

      Interview

The interview was held by a manager outside the finance stream and whilst I understand this could be effective for a soft skills and personality interview, when it came to technical questions and finance focussed questions I feel like I would have done much better against somebody who understood finance. Most of the interview was spent explaining my CV in detail. It appeared the interviewer had not even looked at my CV because he was asking specific questions about how long I had been in certain roles etc. The interviewer struggled to comprehend the nature of my work as a contractor and asked generic ‘definition’ questions for finance terms. The terms however ranged across a broad spectrum of finance functions that for somebody specialising in one area of finance would be near impossible to answer. There were some technical issues as we were wrapping up the interview and my feed was cut. I was not told what the next steps in the interview process were and I emailed the interviewer to follow up but have been ignored.
