I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Crossover for Work (San Diego, CA) in Apr 2016
Interview
Interview was in few steps. 1. Basic test online with multiple choice. 2. Gave a task assignment for manual and automation testing. 3. Interview via skype.
Amazingly after skype interview I got email that my task assignment failed. I have 10 years experience as QA with ISTQB all even advanced certificates so dont know what they were looking for.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
For task assignment needed to write test cases, prove manual testing of TCs, automation testing by script and by keywords and proof of the testing. They wrote an email that I used basic template for TCs, modern test coverage and defect, Little emphasis on various test automation aspects like synchronization, test step dependency, error and exception handling, test logging. Section A function could have improved. Little emphasis on test coverage, documentation and demo for manual testing. Its like OMG. Using their stupid program wink for making videos of testing evidence, and for them it is not enough?! These have affected negatively your overall score.
Interview Feedback:
- Moderate manual testing concepts
- Moderate Test Automation concepts and tools knowledge.
- Average Scripting logic for a small scripting problem statement.
So in my experience this company is a waiste of time. If everything is moderate WTF not take the person.
On the skype interview, it was 1.5 hrs. I think there was only 1 person interviewing, it was like ISTQB foundation level, as only theoretical stupid questions which don't say anything about your realnlife experience. Questions were on testing techniques, testing types for various env (web app, banking app, www), script language writing, logic for prime numbers how to count. Asked about problems with automation. By his view if there is a part that is not automated then the project has a failure in automation completly. During this skype interview I had to share screen of computer, with video. After the 1st question I understood that I will not work for them even if they give me an offer.

Interview
You're first asked to pass some online tests on the crossover platform (Cognitive Test, English Language Test, Coding Test, and a MCQ exam) all with a predetermined score requirement for each job. After successfully passing these tests, you're then asked for a classical interview, followed by another coding assessment.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- Describe the types of Data Structures? - What is a Linear Data Structure? Name a few examples. - How are the elements of a 2D array stored in the memory? - Are linked lists considered linear or non-linear Data Structures? - What are the operations that can be performed on a stack? - Which sorting algorithm is considered the fastest? Why? - Name the ways to determine whether a linked list has a loop.
It was a series of online assessments with very strict rules. SQL exam was difficult, not a tester level, more like a data analyst. And too many conditions - 2 cameras, you can't use headphones, etc.
