I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Centene (Chesterfield, MO) in Aug 2019
Interview
In person interview with manager and one team member. Lasted approximately one hour. Focused more on personality fit with the team than technical questions. Second interview via video conference, more technical. Questions were easy if you know your job.

Question 1
Describe a time when you had to convince management of a solution that wasn’t what they asked for.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Centene in Jan 2017
Interview
The Centene HR recruiter coordinated each step of the interview process. The hiring process consisted of a thirty minute phone screen with the hiring manager, a face to face interview with a panel of staff asking questions, and a final follow-up interview with the hiring manager. After the offer was extended, the HR recruiter assisted the decision making process and offer review. In my case I lived out of state, so the recruiter connected me with the corporate relocation company.
I applied online. I interviewed at Centene (Saint Louis, MO) in Oct 2019
Interview
There was no personal contact until the date of the panel interview, only a virtual/recorded interview beforehand. Once at their offices, the experience was robotic. Improper questions, attitude, and behavior on the part of an interview panel member; one woman was just disrespectful. The type/lack of follow up from talent acquisition afterward was inexcusable. If this is how the HR department interacts with its own candidates, I shudder to think how the rest of the organization handles theirs. It was the single, worst experience I've ever had as an applicant. I’ve led HR in a few organizations, including a Fortune 100 company. In my experience, Centene’s approach/culture felt not only crude, but it certainly won't make ambassadors of applicants.

Question 1
We don't just move at the speed of light, it's Centene-speed-of-light. Applicants should take it into consideration and opt out if it's not for them. What do you think?
