I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Plano, TX) in Apr 2024
Interview
Call from recruiter
Coding challenge
- I got the first two questions entirely correct
- Skipped 3rd
- Got 4th question correct but not efficient enough for full credit
- Ended with 740 score
Power Day:
- Very easy coding questions for explicit coding interview
- System Interview design was very very abstract, a little different than what I was expecting but I do not think this was my downfall
- Behavioral Interview was fairly standard. I'd recommend trying to use the whiteboard to explain concepts easier for work done in the past.
- Case Interview was not what I expected at all. This is really more of an additional coding evaluation in disguise. The case they give you is very straightforward with a predictable outcome. However, the code you look at afterwards has some errors. I did not fix the errors in time so I believe this hurt my chances a lot. The errors in the code were logical, not syntax related, like doing multiplication on negative numbers when that shouldn't be allowed logically due to the scenario.
I ultimately got downgraded to level 2 and the salary discussed did not make sense for my situation however after attempting to reach out for further details to my recruiter I did not get a response.

Question 1
Behavioral: Name a time you have had to rapidly change priorities in a project.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Virtue, TN) in Jun 2024
Interview
Got a call from the recruiter then had to take a CodeSignal assessment the difficulty was medium. When I passed the interview they invited me for a power day. Power day was intense and very tiring starting with Systems Design (Banking App), Coding Round (OOD), Case Scenario (Budget reviewing on Testing), then a behavioral round. The case scenario was a bit tough and the behavioral round was total nonsense. Even after answering questions, the interviewer asked me if I would like to add more details (again and again). The very next day I got a call from the recruiter where he highlighted that I did good on the technical but not well on the behavioral and behavioral is as important as technical. Power day is very exhausting. I was very disappointed.

Very friendly experience with interviewers and overall great people. Had an incredibly attentive recruiter to guide me throughout the process. Would recommend to anyone looking to get their foot into software development!
