I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA) in Jul 2025
Interview
The interview process was intense. First you have to pass an online CodeSignal assessment. When I took the assessment I had to get 2/4 of the questions correct to being invited to a face-to-face interview. From there the actual interview day was split into 4 virtual interviews. A coding assessment, a system design assessment, a case study and a behavioral interview. The coding assessment and system design assessment were both to design a banking application while the case study was to analyze cloud computing performance and fix a section of code. Overall I would rate the technical difficulty of the interview questions as easy to average. The behavioral interview was in the STAR format and the interviewer asked questions on how I have previously handled conflict in the workplace. I left the interview process feeling confident about my odds but got a rejection email the following workday. Unfortunately Capital One has a policy where they don't offer feedback into why you were rejected. I would rate my experience as positive because all of my interviewers were very respectful however I am left feeling a little frustrated since I invested all this time into the interview process with nothing to show for it.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Design a banking application that can create an account, make deposits and withdrawal funds.
Started off by submitting resume on website and received interview request about a month later. Interview consisted of 2 business case interviews and behavioral interviews, including typical case interview frameworks and mental math problems. Behavioral questions were just basic behavioral questions.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA) in Oct 2024
Interview
There was lots of transparency form the start regarding the steps involved in the interview process and the format that they expected questions to be answered in. The final interview was with four different team members and gave an opportunity to assess team dynamic. After completing the full interview process, I still found it difficult to understand what the day to day of the role was.
