British Council interview questions

2 stages, 45 mins each interview stage. Basic questions related to your experience in the field, why you want to work for the organisation and what types of events you have run in the past. They value team work, experience in running diverse range of events and love for the public sector and the work they do.

Usually phone interview if you're applying for a job in a different country. You're first asked to list relevant teaching experience - just talk through where you've worked, ages, size of classes, levels, type of English (e.g. exam classes, business English, etc), you may also be asked why you're interested in the job. Then competency questions - look at the person specification to check which are relevant to this job. I think it's a difficult interview if you're unprepared. Best advice I can offer is make a list of things you've done well, e.g. good lessons / courses you taught, examples of when you've dealt well with people, etc. Then choose one which is relevant to the question asked and develop. Make sure you stick to the question and do focus on what YOU did to make it a success.
