I applied in-person. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Big 5 Sporting Goods (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
Very straight forward. I submitted an application in store and was contacted within 3 days to schedule for the interview. There was a brief written math test of about 50 questions and then a 15 minute one on one interview with the store manager of mostly behavior questions.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Big 5 Sporting Goods (Stephenville, TX) in Oct 2012
Interview
Brand new store, used personnel placement agency. 200 applicants, 20 positions. Regional manager did interviews one on one, gave a week for call backs. Brought in managers from others stores, some accepting new promotions and relocating. Also hired some temporary personnel to set up the store, lasted maybe 3 weeks, but did not stay on as sales or cashiers.
