I found the job on LinkedIn and applied on their site. My background matched extremely well. I had an awesome call about a week later with BSN’s own internal recruiter, then a great video call with the hiring manager a week after that. The hiring manager expressed how well my experience aligned with what they were looking for and shared plans about the team expanding, how I'd fit in, timeline - things felt incredibly positive at this point. After this call, I sent an email thanking her and the recruiter and expressed my excitement - I was told the feeling was very mutual and they wanted me to move forward and interview with the GM of their business unit next, then the CMO. I met with the GM about 2 weeks later on a video call. It went sideways from here. He was clearly disinterested or distracted and seemed totally unprepared. It felt like a non-serious interview to the point I had to carry the call by leading the conversation, flow, generate the questions, keep things upbeat - like a bad date. The other chunk of the call was him sharing his general vision for the department which was much different from the what the hiring manager had told me. Finally, he halfheartedly alluded that the next step for me was probably talking to the CMO. Afterwards, I sent an email to him and the recruiter thanking them and stated that I was still very excited about the opportunity and looked forward to the next steps.
Crickets. I never heard back. Over the next month, I emailed the recruiter about 4 times and called her once to try to get some kind of an update (good or bad because eventually I had another offer come through and needed to understand my status with BSN). The hiring manager was also on a couple of those emails and told me during our interview that I shouldn't hesitate to reach out if I wasn’t getting updates during the process – lol. I have not heard back from anyone at BSN to this day. I didn't even get a flush letter. I sent a LinkedIn invite with a note to the hiring manager and was completely ignored there as well. The job post stayed up on their site for another 2-3 months and was only recently removed. Nobody, as far as I can tell, has the title at BSN that I interviewed for and there have been no other core marketing roles posted. I have no idea what actually happened because they refused to communicate. Just a completely unprofessional end to this process and quite frankly, incredibly rude and amateurish. I can totally understand being ghosted if I’m one of a 1000 applicants after a bad first round, but I was one of a small handful picked for interviewing (as shared by the hiring manager) out of around 100 applicants and went through 3 rounds of interviews, yet received zero updates after this. It reflects poorly on BSN as a whole not getting back with a candidate that made it that far down the line. I advise anyone with an ounce of self respect to steer clear of this company that thinks it’s ok to ignore you and waste your time.
