Interview
I applied for the role after attending an Autodesk networking event. I then reached out to the hiring managers on LinkedIn, who kindly said thank you and that they'll keep an eye out for my resume. Upon hearing from a Principal Recruiter, we spoke on the phone for ~15minutes. She was professional, kind and candidate in mentioning that they had 3 “final candidates” but that they would still like to make time to speak with me. Less than 24 hours before my interview, the recruiter emails me saying she heard from the hiring manager that they’re close to making a decision and “didn’t want to waste anyone’s time”. I understand it’s an employer’s market, but this was…not the culture I was pitched in the networking event. I’ve been unemployed for almost 11 months and this was a dream company. That time would have been incredibly inspiring and valuable in relation to “is this a company to keep trying for?”
Don’t waste your time. It’s not. Autodesk is fortunate to have a plethora of amazing candidates and employees however, they seem to have forgotten that candidates are real people. But hey, no one’s time was wasted, right?
