I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Autodesk in Oct 2009

4. More than 3 rounds.
5. Being smart. You must show you are a smart guy when you talking or asking questions or answering questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Some interviewers like to test your ability of problem solving. They may prepare a very difficult algorithm question. If you have prepared very well, that should not be a problem.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Autodesk
Interview
initial technical screening with HR ( very theoritical) past projects, simple defenitions etc., it was a weeder phone interview, second round phone interview with technical team member. final interview was onsite interview with about 5- 6 interviews with technical team members. i found the attitude of employees here was extremely friendly and they had realistic expectations about future employees and at they were *genuinely* interested in who you are/what you knew/how you would fit in/how you would evolve.
This really impressed me as it starkly contrasted with my past experiences where interviewers barely spend 10 seconds scanning your resume and candidates were nothing more than a headcount (my cerner corp interview experience where my interviewer expected certain a pre-defined answer on binary search and refused to accept any answer other than the one he had printed in a question answer booklet he was using to interview me)
overall i would give AutoDesk 5 stars on their very structured interview process.
