I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Iaşi)
Interview
An initial technical phone-screening with an amazon SDE that, after a general introduction, comprised of a coding (in-browser) exercise, followed by basic troubleshooting, network and algorithm questions.
I was the contacted by the HR recruiter for the on-site interviews.
The on-site was comprised of 5 interviews, each 45 minutes long, with a food break in the middle, where a technical staff member takes you to eat out and during which you can ask questions about the general work-life environment at amazon. This part is off-the-track and the person you're eating will not be looped into the decision to hire you or not based on the eat-out discussions.
The on-site interviews were related to coding and algorithms, networking, linux, troubleshooting and a HR interview (half in romanian, half in english).
The people were very friendly and clarification questions were promptly answered.

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon in Jun 2016
Interview
I really had a bad experience and I completely agree with the below reviews. The Process took 2 months to get the initial phone interview . I felt interviewer was not interested to interview me.. He called me 12 minutes late after I followed up with Recruiting Coordinator.
He never introduced himself and directly jumped into the questions and scenarios which were not clear. I felt interviewer has no clue on how to interview people. I never expected this kind of interview from Amazon.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Amazon (Herndon, VA) in May 2016
Interview
I had read other people's reviews on their negative experiences interviewing with AWS but I was not prepared for this:
For a company with such "high customer service ratings" the interviewers are very rude, critical, and tactless. For my phone interview, I had to log into a Share Point type of environment and type the answers as I spoke them. The interviewer kept telling me to type faster and that I was wasting time on each question! When I would give him an answer he would respond with things like "that's one way of doing it, but not exactly what I was looking for." By the end of the one hour phone screen I felt like I had been strapped to a whipping post and mentally beaten down. Save yourself any professional integrity that you have and seek employment elsewhere. I have not heard back yet if I even passed the screening, as it's been only 24 hours since the phone interview. But I am going to decline any offers as I would not want to work with people who are so unprofessional and rude. What a horrible experience. It is the worst interview I have ever had in terms of how I was treated.
