Went through initial stages of recruitment process for interviews in Sydney. Spoke to HR person for 20 mins on the phone, was then directed to do a technical test.
Test consisted of two simple programming problems with 1/2 hr time limit for each. Would have been easy, except you can't compile run or test your code in the web browser environment for test, unlike just about every other online coding envirnment, eg ideone.com. When I discovered this I frantically tried to get my dev env up and running on my local machine and wasted some time and only had 15 mins left for the second question, which I didn't complete.
Anyway, would have been nice to know more about how the test worked in advance...
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Amazon (Chennai) in Aug 2010
Interview
Nothing to tell much about the interview since i did not clear the two rounds. First round is written test which consists of aptitude questions and 3 algorithm questions. Basically all the 3 algorithm was based on the tree data structure. And those who had cleared the first round had around 4 rounds of technical interviews. All the 4 rounds was also focused on the data structures and algorithms. Finally 2 people got selected from 200 candidates.
it was at a campus recruitment. There were 2 rounds. first one of 45 minutes and second one of 1.5 hours. the good thing was you got the rejection in a days time. the recruiter was dressed very casually and was friendly. They actually want you to get to the answer. Would even help if you stray or forget parts of stated algorithm.
