I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Amazon (Chester, VA) in Jan 2016
Interview
After being sent a few brief questions via email about the position I was approved to start the interview process. I was sent a link to do the interview via hirevue, which is a web based interview process. I was given 3 days to complete the interview that contained 9 questions. I have never interviewed this way so I used the 3 days to prepare knowing that they use behavioral questions and want STAR answers. Knowing this did not give me an advantage! You are given one practice question with 3 chances to answer so you can get the lighting, background and everything else looking good. Watching myself answer questions on video was completely intimidating and ruined my self esteem and confidence. I knew I was bombing it even though I had prepared.
For future interviewees that are given interviews via hirevue know that you are given 3 chances to answer EVERY question. So if the 30 seconds given to prepare your answer is not enough time, answer it as best you can, your answer will be replayed for you and if you are happy with it you can submit it, if not, you have 2 more chances to try it again with NO time limit but beware if you use your 3rd attempt you do not get a chance to watch it, it is automatically submitted. I did not enjoy this experience but now that I have been through it and know what to expect I might be less nervous next time.
As stated in other reviews the questions are behavioral and they expect STAR andwers. Situation or Task, Action and Result.
I applied on a Wednesday and was responded to the same day. Did my interview on Saturday and was sent the thanks but no thanks email Monday morning. The recruitment manager was very nice and even responded to me when I asked for future interviewing tips.
Best of luck to future candidates.

Question 1
Tell me about a time when you were on a project with other team members and had to explain to them why your way was the right way.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Phoenix, AZ) in Oct 2015
Interview
While in my senior year of college, they found my resume online and after setting up a time through email, a person phone interviewed me for 30 minutes. After about 3 business days, they informed me that I would move on to the in-person round at one of their fulfillment centers, or factory centers where each item is processed. I was flown out to the Phoenix location for a 2 day trip with flight, hotel, and food expenses paid. I was supposed to be toured around the fulfillment center with my group, consisting of about 10-15 candidates, but they informed us in advance that they could not do so due to scheduling issues.
At least at the Phoenix center, you are randomly assigned 2 people out of a handful to interview with separately. I interviewed with 2 people separately. The first seemed very rude in particular ways such as not maintaining eye contact throughout my answers and getting distracted my noises in the background. Maybe I wasn't coming up with compelling answers, but she was one of the rudest and seemingly least interested interviewers I've met in my job hunt experience. The second person was a much more pleasant and professional person. The whole experience didn't take more than an hour, with 30 minutes allotted for each interviewer. With regard to my interviewers, it seemed to be the luck of the draw, but I overall had a fun experience getting to travel out to Phoenix and seeing what the factory is like.
It's a lot of behavioral questions for both phone and in-person, so I would just come up with A LOT of situations you can generalize for different questions. They're trying to assess your character and work ethic more so than your actual experience (although it is important to elaborate why HR and why Amazon), so explain specific ways or use numbers to exemplify ways you stood out at previous jobs. Use the STAR method and be very specific. Try your best not to ramble; get to the point. Also be able to relate specific situations to Amazon's Leadership Principles. And one little thing for the in-person round, don't bring anything (including your phone) besides a notepad/padfolio and a pen as security checks you before you enter.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (New York, NY) in Nov 2015
Interview
Was reached out to on LinkedIn by a recruiter. Went over position. Agreed it was a fit and proceeded forward. A week later I received a phone interview with the regional HR manager. It went well and a week later was asked to attend an in person interview in NYC. A week later I was off to NYC all paid for by Amazon. Hotel, meals, flights, parking, everything. Had a tour of the facility. Then proceeded to 2 separate interviews with 2 people in each interview. Total of 2 HR leaders and 2 operational leaders. Interviews lasted 1 hour each. General STAR questions. Interview went well. Got a call a week later saying thanks but no thanks. Overall great communication and speed of process. Very professional.
