I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Amazon in Mar 2010
Interview
TPM = technical project lead. The program manager part of the title is not what a PMI certified program manager would ever expect.
The whole process is very quick, once you get started. Internal admission is that it can take months to get the first phone call, but after that the process moves very quickly.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Describe how to implement a scalable web service architecture, like amazon.com.
You have just been given a large program with many different input components. One of the component deliveries was completed with errors and the at group says they cannot fix the problem because they are on to other work.
How do you resolve this issue?
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Amazon in Jun 2009
Interview
I had applied for a Technical Program Manager position and got a phone screen from a Director of Program Management.
He asked me questions about my previous product experience in terms of design experience. The interview was very broad and not much in depth.
The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Nov 2009
Interview
I had 2 phone screens. The first one was difficult but went well overall. The interviewer was pleasant and willing to detail questions in a manner that would help him guage my technical depth.
The second interviewer was very vague with his questions and wasted over 30 mins of our time and still did not get what he wanted.
Overall it was an OK experience.
