I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Los Angeles, CA)
Interview
The process consisted of an initial HR screen followed by three rounds of telephonic interviews and finally an day long on site interview at Seattle.
Since the position was not development related and techno managerial, the telephone interviews focused on my approach to solving problems and my response to specific situations. The interviews followed a progressive case study approach where the future questions built on an already discussed case. The key elements of the interview were to assess the knowledge of the domain as well as understand my approaches to working in large teams and building relationships to drive the key programs to execution. That said the position definitely needed a person who could carry the job with little supervision.
The onsite interview was a long one (though not as grueling as some others have stated) starting at 10.30 am and ending at 4.30 pm. I was in some form of an interview throughout the 6 hours and met with some of my peers, superiors and members from other teams to provide a more holistic assessment. There was one interview that focused exclusively on risk management and one on program management techniques while the rest were more well rounded. All in all, it was a tiring but good experience.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Amazon in Apr 2009

Offer made within a week and was accepted from one team
The process was very professional and fair.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in May 2012

Attended a Dice job fair and sent my resume online to the recruiter there from Amazon. Response was very quick within two weeks. Have completed two phone interviews waiting for the next step. Each interview was arranged a week after the previous.

What is detail page latency? How can this be improved? How can this be broken down (click an item and then what happens until new page pops up).
