I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (New York, NY) in Sep 2012
Interview
I applied through the site and get a phone call from a recruiter a couple of days later. went through two phone interviews (one with a peer, one with the hiring manager) that went well. a week later i flew to Seattle for a day of interviews. Most interviewers were nice and friendly apart from my hiring manager that seem to have tried to make the questions unclear on purpose and offered no help when I tried to better understand his intention.
One of my main challenges was that my hiring manager wasn't being specific about the job description and kept giving me very general answers. It was only when I spoke with other people that I realized this wasn't a real product role and was not what I was looking for.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Most questions were along the lines of "tell me about a time when you faced a challenge and over come it" or "a mistake that you've done" or "an analysis that went wrong". also "an amazon product that you love and why"
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Oct 2012
Interview
Received email from recruiter with information/profiling form to be completed, and time for a telephone conversation with the recruiter. I completed it and submitted the next morning. The next day I receive an email from the recruiter saying that a different hiring manager wanted to schedule a telephone interview, which we scheduled. The recruiter also sent a listing of Amazon's core values and what to expect during the interview.
The interview started late, and the interviewer informed me there was a hard stop on his time. He did a deep dive on my 25+ year resume, and asked a series of questions about some of the more technical portions of previous projects. The time went fast, and after announcing he had to go, asked the standard "Do you have any questions for me?". Only about a thousand, but I elected to respect his schedule which was probably the wrong move.

Question 1
He asked me what I used for a particular statistical analysis on a project about 8 years prior.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Bengaluru) in Jul 2012
Interview
Amazon's recruitment coordinator called to schedule telephonic rounds (2 in total), each was an elimination round. Once I cleared these, I was asked to take an online test. On clearing this, I was asked to come over to their office for in-person interviews (7 in total). Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
