I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Austin, TX) in Jan 2022
Interview
The whole process was over 7 hours of calls plus a screening phone call. Everyone I met with was very nice, but the whole process felt very robotic and I didn't feel like they were interested in knowing about me as a person. The process and questions focused mostly on behavioral work questions which felt formulaic, repetitive, and scripted.
I frequently met with different people than the schedule suggested and I was seldom told what these people did at Amazon, even in which division they work. The most unusual and disturbing feature was on some calls, there were people 'listening in' to the session. That I did not know who these people were made the process feel more prosecutorial than it should be.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon
Interview
Recruiter set up a 60 min call with the hiring manager. Had to use Chime platform, which was not web-based as listed. Be sure to download the program in advance. Was provided with lots of details on how to prep for the interview including details on the Leadership Principles and the STAR methodology. Beginning of interview was spent reviewing the position itself and I was able to ask questions. Second portion of interview was about me. Was only asked 2-3 questions about my skills, not much about my background, which felt a little strange. Overall, the interview was fine. Would recommend dedicating a good amount of time to the interview prep materials. I wasn’t able to spend much time with those, and I think it ultimately hurt my chances as it seems they are looking for very specific keywords in responses.
