Interview
I was a final round interview candidate for a position at Amazon Studios in Culver City. I had an initial video interview with a member of the team (one hour), a prep call with HR (30 minutes), and four additional video interviews (one hour each). The process was intense. The questions are behavioral based and you are instructed to frame your answers according to Amazon’s leadership principles. Overall it was a good experience, but it’s definitely not for the faint at heart.

Question 1
Tell me about a time you received critical feedback and how you handled the situation.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Jul 2022
Interview
Long and tedious. I met with the recruiter on short notice. I was told I would hear back on next steps. I sent several polite emails and got ghosted and never heard back from anyone. The company has a horrible reputation in how they treat people so I feel I dodged a bullet. They should really improve how they communicate with candidates. To be ghosted is frankly not acceptable for a company that demands so much of your time during the process. They also refused to even provide a compensation range for the role. Process is way too difficult and involved for the level of role.

Question 1
All questions obsessed with the leadership principles and STAR format. I honestly have no idea what the role would have involved since nothing of relevance was discussed. They say a lot while saying nothing of meaning or substance.
Good people, interview follows SMART format. Must know their mission and incorporate it into your answers. Everyone seemed busy and wanted to get the interview over with. Not a good culture.
