I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Allstate (Bengaluru) in Jun 2013
Interview
Interview was totally into performance testing and mainly on Loadrunner as they are into loadrunner scripting and execution for their products.
Questions were fully on loadrunner tool and it's purpose.
Questions were easy and straight forward related tools settings and options but since I didn't prepare well, it didn't go in my way.
Prepare well before you enter into this company, since they hire loadrunner guys who worked really on it.
I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Allstate (Chicago, IL)
Interview
HR calls first, then you meet the team. Team seems confused, even flustered. Unprepared. They walk out even more confused.
Hr person called late, submitted wrong resume to team on my behalf, did not properly. communicate my salary expectations. The most specificity I got was about parking. I had to do a lot of leg work myself to find out who I was interviewing.
Poor, poor experience from a boring company.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Allstate (Indianapolis, IN) in Feb 2014
Interview
I previously interviewed with Allstate and the actual personal interview was fine. I did not like taking their online assessment which was so typical of some companies. None of he questions were even remotely relevant to the position I was applying for.
I have read numerous articles on the web pertaining to the various screening tests that some companies utilize and the general consensus is that they seem to stand in the way of hiring qualified people.
The previous companies that I have worked for did not utilize these assessments, (Meyers/Briggs, etc.), but instead used more common sense methods such as in person interviews instead of a computer test, asked actual questions that pertained to the position, checked references and so forth.
My success in prior positions came not as the result of some assessment but rather interacting with an employer in person who knew what the position required and allowed me the opportunity to demonstrate how I could meet those requirements.
