2:30pm interview at their downtown Los Angeles office. Since it's downtown Los Angeles, the commute and parking are always tricky; had to park a couple blocks away for $13. Arrived ten minutes early, reception area had about fifteen other applicants and a gentleman in front of me was complaining to the receptionist that he's been here three times. Receptionist hands me a clipboard and I fill out information I already completed online (with the exception of a report writing section where they wanted me to observe the activity in the office).
An hour later, I'm called and put into an interview room. Another half hour wait and a manager comes in, I hand him my resume and have a short conversation about my security experince and goals; he also stated "Oh, you've worked for us before" when I did not (G4S was acquired by AUS). Told me that the position was for $21/hour (posted at $24) and has been filed. I thanked him for his time, stated that I appreciated meeting someone where I can hand off a resume (rather than it getting deleted/lost in some computer system) and left (no handshake but to be fair I didn't offer one first).
Pretty much wasted an entire afternoon (remember, downtown Los Angeles traffic) and $13 to park. They don't have individual appointment times, so it's a 'cattle call' format. Most of the applicants were not in professional attire (coat/tie for me) so there's that.
