I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Air Canada (Montreal, QC) in Dec 2017
Interview
Applied online early October 7th (I think)
[1 day after] Video interview
[1 week after] call to schedule a language test over the phone
[2 days later] Language test
[1 week after] Invite for a F2F interview (October 26th)
[1 week after] F2f interview at 10:30 (November 4th) I only had the individual interview. Told me I would get news around 6 to 8 weeks.
[December 7th] I got a call to come and meet them again for the group interview on december 16th. I was at 9AM and left at 10:45. I did NOT get my medical. They told the group I was in we would get a reply (either positive or negative) within 2 to 4 weeks.
That was my process !
Interview questions [4]
Question 1
Video interview: (Sorry i forgot the questions.....)
Language test : 1st few questions in French. Very basic questions, spell your name, what-si your preferred base, are you willing to move to another city, etc.
Last questions were in english. What was your last travel? What did you do?
F2F interview : I was at 10:30, but only met someone around 11h15-11h30. It was the same questions as the one I had during the little video interview. Then it was a lot of situations question.
Tell me an example of when you had to deal with an angry customer. What have you done to resolve the situation?
Tell me an example of when you anticipated a problem and what did you do.
Tell me an exemple of when you had a problem with a coworker. How did you handle the situation?
Group interview : We met an senior flight attendant where we could ask all the questions we wanted to her. Then someone called names to group 6 people for the group interview. She asks what your language preference is (French or English).
Then you have situations you need to solve. Health problems, annoyed customers, turbulence.
Once you are done, you are then ask to wait in another room with the others candidate and then are called again for the last step where they ask you what are your preferred base (Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver (they are not hiring for Montreal)) and what is your preferred language (French or English) for the formation.
Fair but alot of questions. Be prepared with many scenarios that demonstrates customer service and your ability to react to emergencies. Being friendly and dress appropriately is also very important
The interview process comprises an initial group meeting with all applicants, followed by a concise overview of Air Canada. Subsequently, the larger group will be segmented into two or three smaller units for individual interviews. These interviews are designed to assess your interpersonal skills, cognitive processes, and professional bearing. You will be presented with a scenario for discussion, followed by a video analysis focusing on a flight attendant's actions, requiring you to evaluate their appropriateness.
It was a great experince doing an interview, even though I didn’t make the cut during the last interview for Air Canada. Overall it was a great journey. It does bring my hopes up because I lasted till the finals.
