Pros

None, Ok I have to write 5 words here, Free Coffee.

Cons

Where do I start, I'll just say that you should avoid this place at all costs. If you're looking for a job then, keep looking and don't go to Gate Retail as you'll be back looking within 3-6 months. Then there is the proven fact just look at the other reviews on here that if you stay you will either be forced out by bullying, harassment or you will just decide to walk. It's just the way Gate Retail and Gate Gourmet is. So in short: 1) A culture of leaders who don't care for their workers 2) Bullying and management by fear of the Directors 3) Everyone is out to score cheap points at your expense to make themselves look good 4) Avoid meetings as they are always fraught with conflict and a horrible foggy tension 5) The atmosphere is horrible and it's like that as people are stressed because their are no systems to do the job properly. 6) No systems and no people to make up for it so every job is very manual and time consuming. 7) A company formed on lack of integrity and lies to its customers to keep or win accounts. There are 2 sorts of people that work here, group 1 are the ones who are lazy and are masters at passing the buck and stabbing their subordinates in the back. Then there are the few nice decent hard working people that become so demotivated after 3-6 months they just give up with the place and mentally depart. Enough said, this one is a Job search AVOID....

Pros

Nice office, free coffee, good parking...sad that that's about it.

Cons

#1 problem is culture, which is cut throat. Every Director is consumed on how they must appear as value add, even at the expense of their own teams. HR should do something about this but they can't even keep their own people. Our 4 Values are for everyone else to cultivate, but not senior leadership as they rarely embody these. Meetings show lowest levels of accountability and a culture of hostility and blame. Data is skewed to cover problems or create appearances. The best meetings are those that get canceled.

Pros

Global exposure, with opportunities to travel and live abroad. They are trying to make things better. Tough it out for 18 months to get the experience you need and then move on. Gategroup will give you the global experience faster than most employers.

Cons

Very little data, overly complex matrix organisation, poorly defined processes, limited career progression and rewards for staff who are expected to work extra hours for free. Threatening behaviour from Managers, equal balance between leaders who micro manage and others who will not take responsibility enabling them to point the finger when things go wrong. Not enough people to do the job. Too much restructuring making it difficult for staff to know where they stand, with a bit of a hire and fire culture.
