Pros

Smart, passionate people. Totally self motivated and driven. Network of intelligent and experienced people all around the world. Great international opportunities. Generous travel. Interesting strategic questions and impact to Australian market. Everyone is plugged into it. Collaborative environment.

Cons

Weak senior management role models in regards to expertise and experience. There is a lot of talk about experience, but not a lot of direction or action. Consultant mentality. Everyone thinks they are strategic. Execution and delivery suffers. There is an obsession with profile and exposure. Favouritism from the top. Obvious imbalances. It is definitely easier for some than others.

Pros

Huge name recognition. Everyone everywhere recognizes the brand name. Benefits package is above average. Some very smart and hardworking people (a frighteningly small amount) make eBay and PayPal tick, and it was a pleasure working with them and learning from them.

Cons

Management is shockingly political, leading to mystery position creation where the "Senior Director of Widgets" will suddenly be hired to "manage" the "Director of Widgets". Huge vertical command structures are the result, with plenty of people director or above with zero direct reports. Huge value is placed upon having been there the longest, which means those who simply stuck around are now in positions of middle management, which has led to serious technology problems. Mysterious technology choices and lack of direction; everything is built and run on decades-old technology, then management comments openly about competitors having much larger technology budgets. Technical decisions are made at the ground level, which leads to horrible siloing in related technology organizations; it's almost as if there is no direction at all coming from the top. Serious career progression problems; this place is a stopping point only, unless you have an MBA and a consulting background.. then look forward to filling your days with "pinging" other MBAs to share your PPT "decks"
