Pros

The eBay environment is warm and friendly and the company does a great job of trying to keep things "human". The benefits and salary are competitive with an attractive 4 week sabbatical after 5 years of service. Employees are encouraged to be true owners of their deliverables.

Cons

The company has a huge list of to-do's but lacks the right staffing to stay agile. Work-life balance will always be a challenge. The company priorities are cloudy across the enterprise and across the portfolio of companies.

Pros

eBay has great benefits, including inexpensive medical, profit sharing, a month-long sabbatical every 5 years, and nice work-life balance. At the operational (bottom) level, managers listen to employees. However, there seems to be a communication barrier between the operational and tactical level of the company. This is especially true with the newly-installed top level of mangement in SLC and lower managers.

Cons

Management seems to be having trouble knowing what they need to do to turn things around, and they seem unwilling unable to listen to lay employees' ideas.

Pros

Pretty relaxed in general. All engineering time is well documented preventing situations where engineers need to work a significant amount of overtime.

Cons

The process is very rigid there, slowing down progress. As a result, people are essentially unable to make individual contributions in their free time not explicitly planned or documented as part of a project.
