Pros

In the past, working for eBay was good way to improve your CV. I also found it quite fun to be working for a well recognised brand. When I started in 2002, eBay was an exciting place to work. Everyone in the team could share ideas and had a genuine feeling to be part of the success story. That all changed when the struggle for power started. So many good projects and ideas got killed as they came from the "wrong" country, product group or team. Smaller countries like FR, BE or NL simply could not do what they knew to be best. So many people got frustrated or depressed and left or got kicked out.

Cons

The company could not handle change. The problems seem to have started when the company was growing too fast. Carreer development was at first not an issue and then it became unpredictable. I have seen the dice roll both ways for me.

Pros

eBay has great benefits and seems to start at pay a little above the industry standard.

Cons

Management is threatened by education and does not tolerate asking questions. If you do not agree with any decision made by management, you are no longer "towing the line." Suggestions into how thing can be better run are seemingly ignored or management makes you out to not be a "team player," however, if your idea is good it will be implemented, but your name will never come up.

Pros

Your work changes peopels lives - people use eBay to do real things... not a fluffy web 2.0 fake idea. This is real people buying and selling real things and you've got to fix real problems. Millions of transactions a day make this a very interesting place to work.

Cons

Missed the boat a few years back on how the market was changing - did not make the right changes in the business and now company is paying the price and has a hard time trying to adjust things. Morale is probably down these days because of that.
