Demanding Workload, but it Pays Off
Pros
I like my coworkers. The office is full of relatively young people, and there is a good vibe. I appreciate the casual dress code. My boss treats me with respect and has been a positive force in my career. The work is challenging. I feel like I am constantly being asked to expand my horizons. Being in downtown Vancouver means the best of both worlds tax-wise. I don't pay income tax, yet live and work 1 exit from Portland. The firm recognizes achievement and publicly celebrates it. The firm is involved with the community. I feel empowered to act if I have an idea.
Cons
The workload can be very challenging. I work lots of hours, nights and weekends included. Sometime it feels like we are still building this plane as we are flying it. I wish the firm were a bit more open to alternative working arrangements. I feel as if there are lots of things that turn into fire drills that shouldn't, which significantly amps up the stress level.
