Pros

*most co workers are friendly and great to work with *uniform is provided *shifts are all day (good hours, if you need them/working as a casual) this can be both a pro and a con *most employees are hard working, which is motivating *fast paced environment

Cons

*Management is disorganised and unprofessional *rosters are published literally a day before the new month (late) and rosters are pretty much changed weekly. they will also change the roster without letting staff know and expect you to know when your shifts are even though they change it regularly. *Casuals don't get to learn or do anything new. Every time I have asked to do something different or learn something new, I would get responses such as "Not today, we are short staffed or its too busy" *The work is very repetitive, there are rarely any rotations. you are stuck in one zone for the entire shift. its even worse when they constantly put you in one zone shift after shift. and then make you feel like you should be grateful if they zone you in a different area. *Management never appreciate the hard work, but as soon as you do something wrong, they will notice and tell you off. *if management dont like you, you wont get any shifts, they wont even try to "improve you" or provide you with training and they wont give you a reason as to why you're not rostered on. *the hours are long and tedious, especially when you do late night trading shifts. *if you are late, they will tell you off, but its ok for managers to be late *staff turnover is ridiculously high and they wonder why people are constantly quitting, maybe HR should focus on those reasons instead of constantly hiring new employees to replace old staff who are fed up and disgrunted. *no staff discount *the pay is average. no incentive to work on saturdays, as the pay is pretty much the same and its the busiest day too. *customers are demanding

Pros

Uniform is provided and some of the co-workers are great to work with.

Cons

- Poor pay and absolutely no incentives for casual workers (no staff discount at all). Some staff were even back paid after complaints of being underpaid. - Terrible management: Managers and leaders being outwardly rude and patronising to staff members in front of customers; being very hypocritical of other staff members, e.g. you're late once and they'll get very annoyed and cause a scene etc. but its okay for them to walk in late on a regular basis. Or you say hi to another staff member and they'll accuse you of slacking off or disturbing the workflow even though they spend plenty of time out the back of the store having nice long group conversations about irrelevant non-work related topics. - Unprofessional and toxic gossip culture amongst managers and leaders. Talking about other staff members behind their back is one thing, but doing it during work while customers and other staff members can hear it is another. There is no such thing as the "open communication" they preach about. - Obvious favouritism shown to certain staff members. If you aren't favoured by management then good luck to you getting any shifts, even if you're very hardworking. - Low customer service priority -- witnessed some staff saying they cannot help customers or not even putting effort into helping customers when they needed it. - Poor organisation and time management. The roster would be chopped and changed without even notifying staff, then if someone didn't show up they would get annoyed even though they had no idea they were supposed to be working. - Micro management is abundant, particularly from those who seem to do no work whatsoever themselves. A lot of work is passed off to other staff members and if you don't get it done you'll be blamed for being incompetent even though you are pretty much doing someone else's job (while they're doing NOTHING) - Hardly any training even though they expect you to know so much. - Always "under-staffed" and a very high staff turnover - but that doesn't come as a surprise - No appreciation for hard work

Pros

Flessible timetable: possibility to work just in specific days of the week, perfect for students and people who have more than one job. Sometimes you are lucky enought to work with a good team. Possibility to grow really fast inside the company. Good starting point for people without a working experience. Good commissions.

Cons

Do not expect to receive any appreciation for the job done: even if you do your best, will always be some criticism from the management staff. The employ discount is ridiculous, 15% off. Most of the management is arrogant and unable to manage and motivate the team. The reason why is linked to the possibility to grow really fast inside the company (in less than two years you can go from basic sales assistant to department manager): the trainings are not long enought to get a proper knowledge/experience about managing people. Unable to motivate and retain people. The figure of the employ is seen as a sort of machine: there is no possibility to express personal opinions, you have just to get your job done how and when they "order" you. The power is too much centralised: avery single indication comes from Spain. They pretend to apply the same marketing mix, health & safety rules, ... in the same way everywhere without keeping into account that every single store has specific features and needs.
