Pros

The best reason to work for ZS Associates is probably the laid back work environment. It is a very friendly place to be. Your co-oworkers are, for the most part, great people who want to help you succeed and be happy. Jeans and a tshirt are acceptable work attire (though jeans and a polo shirt is probably the typical outfit. Sandals are not frowned upon though if you want to be a go-getter you might want to wear sneakers just to be safe. Average age is probably around 25/26 so its a young, fun group. Its a good place to work!

Cons

Probably the biggest downsides are: 1) among those who dont work in the healthcare consulting industry Z S is not very well known so its not as easy telling people where you work as if you worked for Bain or something. If you are looking for that name recognition and brand awareness from others this is probably not the place to be. 2) Compensation is fair/solid but I wouldn't say its "great." 3) despite their best efforts to help you with work-life balance, its still consulting and that can suck up a lot of your time ... there are late nights.

Pros

The people. Fun, intelligent, exciting people to stimulate your everyday environment. There is a lot of opportunity to step up and work on new initiatives if you have ideas. People are really supportive, and there isn't as much politics. You work with relatively small teams which allows you to have closer communication with the principal/manager or the associate working with you. Supervisors don't hesitate to stay late and work with the team. The other upside is that they are willing to pay for your education should you decide to go in for an MBA later on. Overall they treat you well and respect you.

Cons

You are more or less sold to your job. Hours are unpredictable, but usually weekends are free. There is no overtime, so your overall pay per hour can be pretty low if you're putting in long hours.

Pros

People are smart and enjoyable to work with; the firm culture is also nice, very team oriented and collegiate. The work is interesting, we strive for high quality, analytically driven solutions for our clients.

Cons

You need to like the Healthcare industry, because the majority of our clients are in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech and Medical Devices area. We are well known, and extremely respected in the healthcare industry, as much as McKinsey or BCG (see vault.com), but transition outside of this space has been very hard for us in the past 3-4 years.
