Opportunities to travel, friendly environment, meaningful projects, international scope, exposure to colleges from around the world. opportunities to move within organization

Cons

dealing with time differences a lot. relatively slow place compared with private sector, bureaucratic culture, large organization feel, slow pace of DC.

Pros

The coworkers are for the most part highly educated, highly motivated professionals. The projects are Interesting and involve a lot of field travel

Cons

The main downside is the bureaucratic hassle and the not so meritocratic promotion system at times. Politics also plays too much of a role.
