Provide young people with great learning opportunities. Good work/life balance. International working environment.

Cons

Too bureaucratic. Outsource too much work to individual consultant or consulting firms. With the financial crisis, budget situation will remain tight for a couple of years.

Great first experience out of grad school

Pros

Senior staff took mentoring seriously and made an effort for me to take on more responsibility over time. I was in the JPA program, which meant that I had an opportunity to be on staff, although only for the limited 2 year period, which provided a chance to build strong relationships.

Cons

Low salary for junior staff, and inability to remain in the organization after the 2 year contract has finished. The program was first designed for undergrads, but most JPAs that were there at the same time as me had master's degrees. The requirement to leave for two years no longer makes as much sense as it once did.
