Pros

Great insights - into the development world - the functioning of a large bureaucracy - global power dynamics. The work environment differs greatly within the Bank. I was lucky, but saw many others stuck in a dead end.

Cons

The organization has constantly been downsizing and reorganizing. In combination with permanent budget constraints, and the abolishment of permanent contracts, this creates a lot of job uncertainty Strict hierarchies makes it sometimes hard to progress. Politically motivated decisions (including hiring and the allocation of funds to units). It is an interesting place for a few years, but does not offer long term career prospects.
