Pros

If you find a good TTL to work for, being a consultant at the Bank can be rewarding.

Cons

If you find a bad TTL to work for, being a consultant at the Bank can be demeaning, unfulfilling, and a waste of time beyond being able to pay one's bills.

Pros

There's no other organization quite like IFC and the World Bank Group as a whole. It really is the best place to get into international development. As a result, you're surrounded by people with an amazing amount of varied experiences, so you're coming at things from different angles, not to mention constantly learning from colleagues.

Cons

--STT/STC contracts are often in place of full-time contracts, so you're expected to do the work of a full-time employee but only for 150 days each fiscal year. There aren't any benefits either. --there's definitely a divide between staff and contracted employees --extremely bureaucratic --once people get a staff position, they rarely leave. As a result, there are times when it can get stuffy and stagnant --not many young people, and there aren't many opportunities for career advancement for young people unless you already have a masters degree or equivalent years of experience
