Pros

Good people work here. The benefits are good and the gift matching when giving to charities is wonderful. The 401(k) match is great because it starts from day 1.

Cons

Lots of change recently. This includes sending jobs overseas which has limited ability for career advancement. We were told that part of the movement would be to put business closer to the customers. Then why did a large portion of the company move to Lithuania when the customers are in the USA/Mexico?

Pros

Company has interesting ideas for new products, a core of good knowledge concentrated within few resources, and with the right management style has the potential to succeed. Cash cow operating within the grey area of the Banking world with millions of customers worldwide and the largest agent network ever assembled.

Cons

Cost cutting measures promised by the new CEO positioning the company for sale within few years rather than growth. Management is disconnected from the reality on the ground. "Do more with less" attitude will only work so far as lapses in technology, adequate training and knowledge sharing will eventually catch up. A good portion of the mid level management are "lifers" without exposure to the realities of the market. New ideas are not received well as change is very hard to implement. Job concerns create an environment where questions regarding strategy, ideas to enhance execution or any other improvement are not welcomed. Opportunities for advancement are rare at best and are based on the "like" factor rather than performance. The company is still figuring out how to implement pay for performance structure that will not work until everyone will be part of the 360 process with additional reviewers being picked outside of the local teams that tend to "help" each other out. Overall, as my title suggests, if you are looking for a place to take a "break" from the stress of the real business world this is the place for you. 9 to 4:30 with an hour lunch is the norm.
