Pros

In my group I find that opportunities are out there for those who want them and are ambitious. The management casts a wary eye at those who have a sense of entitlement and tends to reward those to really step up and go outside their comfort zone. The company is very large with nearly 80 lines of business so the culture will certainly vary, but overall you get the sense the company is relatively conservative and rooted in sound principles.

Cons

While there are certainly plenty of ambitious and successful leadership there are seem a few people with entitlement syndrome milling about as if working for the bank is a government job. These are the same folks who expect a pay raise every year for mediocre performance. Also, with the Wachovia merger now in full swing there is more "uncertainty" in the air these days than normal.

Pros

Different divisions can have different cultures, but overall I would say that Wells is a really well run company with a good culture and very solid ethics. They do a lot of great community and charity work. Generally employees are treated well and many employees stay with the company for a very long time because they have the ability to grow and move around the company.

Cons

Culture can vary by division, so a lot depends on what you're dong and who your working with. In my group and role, I find I am constantly on the phone for back to back conference calls and that can be very draining and not always as productive as all that.

Cons

The work is repetitive and can become boring and extremely unfulfilling. A lot of pressure to make sales Sometimes customers can be physically and emotionally abusive.
