Pros

Opportunity to work on multiple projects and build experience

Cons

Losing remote work flexibility after 7 years of 100% remote. 45 min commute Difficult to get promoted even if direct manager wants to promote you Too many disconnected IT decisions made by upper management Making less as a software engineer than newly hired engineers Multiple times where I had interim or no manager. Turnover in management More Buy vs Build. Trending towards less actual development...more dev ops and vendor software management than custom software

Pros

co-workers were great. work environment was not always the best and customers could be extremely rude. but over all enjoyed the job though it does get very monotonous over time.

Cons

I walked in one day and I was told my position was cancelled and I no longer had a job. I was let go in the middle on a pandemic, after my husband had lost his job, and pregnant with our 2nd baby. It was unimaginable the treatment and complete disregard after years of service. I was told that day I had no job and cast out like I was a stranger after considering some of these people family. I wouldn't recommend Wells Fargo after the way I was treated. management knew for days prior to day of conversation which made it even more shocking and a complete disregard of people. I do not believe people should be treated in that manner especially after working hard and giving their best daily.

Pros

Good benefits, increased PTO after three years Generous leave policies after one year Engineering teams work hard and are generally knowledgeable (at least in my group)

Cons

No career growth opportunities and stagnant salaries. If you're good, you'll be repeatedly asked if you want to "grow in your role", which means more work with no change in pay or title. Promotions will happen to ensure "team equity" and ensure that everyone has the same title/level regardless of job duties or performance The constant merry-go-round of short-term tech leadership Annual reorgs are a huge headache Way too much paperwork and red tape Leadership can be overly focused on metrics that don't matter Even the most minuscule decisions are made by committee Most BSCs and other support people in tech aren't technical and will use that as an excuse for not getting things done. It's a form of learned helplessness that I've never seen anywhere else, at least not on this scale. If you're a BSC with any sort of technical background, prepare to spend at least half of your time explaining the same things to coworkers over and over again. It's absolutely mind-numbing. You can also kiss PTO goodbye because there are no work-life boundaries here and everyone will call you with questions, including your boss.
