Pros

Wayfair has an amazing culture, great work-life balance as well as a lot of growth opportunities. They give their employees a ton of responsibilities from the very start and there is a lot of room for the employee to learn and grow. The on-the-job training and experience is extremely valuable, which makes this company an amazing place to build and solidify your skills. They are more open to hire people with little to no relevant work experience, which makes Wayfair a great place to get your foot in the door into the technology/e-commerce industry. In addition, Wayfair is a fun environment to work in and has a very tight-knit community. It is easy to get along with everyone. The employee base is quite young (22-26), which is both a pro and a con.

Cons

Wayfair's pay scale is on the low end, especially compared to similar companies in Boston (technology and other e-commerce companies), let alone the tech giants of Silicon Valley. While the perks are nice, in my opinion they only do so much to mask the lower salaries. I would say most people leave Wayfair not because of the culture or the people, but because they are offered, sometime significantly, higher salaries elsewhere - especially given their new-found skill sets.

Pros

There are many opportunities to work with lots of technologies and all of the projects tend to have interesting puzzles to solve. You're surrounded by smart coworkers, and the teamwork with other departments is productive and relaxed.

Cons

Project priorities can change perhaps a little too frequently leading to stretches of time where you don't feel you've accomplished much even tho you've worked hard on the beginning of many bits and pieces. Managers don't have a lot of time to actually give their people feedback/guidance.

Pros

Great culture, tons of lateral opportunities, great chance to meet tons of people and be part of a fun social company. This company's primary focus is the just out-of-college person who is looking to build a career and start a great resume. Great owners/founders (Niraj and Steve) who biult a great company and are passionate about what they do.

Cons

It's not known as Wellfair for nothing. The B2B sales program is an absolute joke and you will be lied to as to the commission structure. In my initial interview I was told 55K was the median (27K salary + 28K commission). Avg monthly commission across 2 bonuses (revenue + rotating monthly bonus) was about $800/month (w/ salary only about 37K/year). They will also tell you they have a 6 month ramp-up for promotion into the Senior sales team. In my year there, 2 people were promoted (out of approx 16), some of which had been there a year and a half. If your looking for a new sales opportunity, please avoid this position at all costs. Recent changes include an updated salary of 30K/year but the bonuses have been decimated at both the junior and senior sales levels. I was one of about 6 that have left in the past 2 months (with many others looking elsewhere).
