Pros

I came to Wayfair because of the growth opportunities. There are jobs, responsibilities, and learning opportunities that may or may not be available today but will be in the future and that really excites me. You can learn something from everyone you work with as there is a high talent bar and everyone is exceptionally smart. You’re given a ton of autonomy over how you complete your work to drive results, which some people love, but there is a level of ambiguity that employees need to be comfortable with. Compensation is a personal decision. Most people will take a cash cut coming to Wayfair as equity becomes a huge component of your total compensation, especially as you progress to management. I happen to like it because I look at it as part of my retirement fund.

Cons

There is a ton of high-growth happening, meaning most employees wear a couple of different hats. It gives individual employees the opportunity to expand the scope of your role but can be a net-stress add. In addition, the average Wayfair employee is that kid that always made sure to fill out every component of a school project rubric. You’re expected to check all those boxes and then some. Sometimes, your manager is a new manager, and your manager’s manager is a new manager so there ends up being tension as people ramp up to Wayfair and as they ramp up to their role. I do feel more stress than I would like to but I also couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. There are different growth opportunities that pop up all the time and it makes me really excited about growing my career here. Overall, working at Wayfair is a constant evolution, and because of that constant evolution there are growing pains, but I’m optimistic.

Pros

• My colleagues are smart and approachable. • I feel like my opinion is valued in meetings, even if I’m the lowest ranked person in the room • Good work-life balance – my colleagues work “normal” hours so I don’t feel pressured to work 10+ hours days • There’s beer and cider on tap. This gives you an opportunity to get to know your colleagues without having to formally plan an outing.

Cons

• Project ownership is oftentimes spread across several individuals/teams, so it’s hard to get the correct information sometimes • Wayfair moves incredibly quickly so your role can change drastically from time to time

Pros

Huge fast growing company. Lot of opportunities here and you feel valuable here as your opinion matters and you can cause a direct impact on the business decision making.

Cons

Fast paced - sometimes work-life balance is not taken care of. Compensation not very competitive.
