Compensation is not competitive, business doesn't know its own direction
Pros
The teams are caring and the managers genuinely show interest in direct reports' personal development. This is the #1 reason why people stay. Some get comfortable with the daily chaos and constantly chasing of quick ROI. Snack walls are nice but have declined since COVID.
Cons
- Wayfair doesn't understand its own mission and objective - Department scrambles to figure out what they need to work on and what's priority for them - Data is not the thermostat. The first piece of data highlighting a problem to senior leadership is what drives the goals for the next few weeks. There is no understanding of end user impact. - Tech teams don't want to own the customer experience and their slice of the pie despite being one of the main contributors. - Compensation is not competitive at all. Employees are not rewarded for tenure.
