Bloated Studio

Pros

For long term employees - congratulations you will never get fired or laid off. The studio will treat you as family and hire temps to clean up your mess and do your job for you while you slack off.

Cons

For anyone who isn’t part of the WB family be prepared to be treated as less than for there is a serious class system in effect. While they get early closures, parties, telecommuting, raises and bonuses you will be expected to not only clean up the messes they make but to do their jobs for them while they enjoy the fruits of your labor. The studio is completely disjointed. Not only do departments not know how to work with one another, within departments there is a complete lack of cohesiveness. If you are looking for a collaborative environment this isn’t it.

Misleading to get you in the door

Pros

• Stocked break-room and beer fridge for all hands meetings • Hours are flexible

Cons

• Leadership does not seem to back you on anything • No policies or procedures in place, making for a very frustrating startup-like experience, despite being an established studio • Backstabbing groups who will go to leadership behind your back versus talking to you • Inadequate resourcing - I've worked in companies that are lean, but having one person do the work of 3-4 is ridiculous • Everything seems to be a fire with no adequate prioritization of issues • Entitled users who need constant hand holding • You'll only do around 10% of your actual job description, the rest seems to comprise "other duties as assigned" • Corporate level support blindly makes decisions without much communication

Technology Group

Business Outlook

Pros

Great people. Pride of brand.

Cons

Steer clear. Group is in a state of flux. Lots of lip service to culture and employee/talent retention, but unless you’re connected, your work performance won’t matter much. Very hard to get things done or innovate - there is too tight a focus on budgets, and those are cut every year more and more. Impossible to make any meaningful improvements if you’re someone that is enthusiastic about technology.
