Pros
The analytical knowledge learned while at Towers Watson, although hard to apply in other industries, was quite extensive. You tend to become a pension expert.
Cons
It was clear the Retirement Line of Business is fastly extinguishing. During the two years at Towers Watson, I saw many of the pension plans either frozen or terminated. We NEVER saw a prospect thinking of adding it as part of their benefits. Clients know they are better off with a well built 401k account, or other employee benefits, products the Retirement Line of Business does not manage.
