Pros

The medical coverage is good. The job that never leaves you alone.

Cons

No growth opportunities in Las Vegas. It's a dead end! You have to work there 3 years to get all your 401k! The job is just a grind. It's like being in a factory assembly. The job is absolutely no fun! Don't let the lazy people at the top tell you otherwise!

Pros

The compensation is really good. The commission structure could use some work, but base pay is still high. The company provides really good benefits. Probably some of the best medical coverage you can get. As an employee you get really good discounts on products and services, although customer service for employees is even worse than it is for customers.

Cons

Upper management (district managers and above) seem to be promoted based on who they know rather than actual skill. During the last year of employment, I saw my district manager four times. Keep in mind, he was supposed to be in my location at least once a month.

Pros

The company offers a vareity of functions and specializations. Executives work hard on highlighting the outstanding accomplishments by both associate and management rank. The company receives accolades for being a good place to work for minorities and women, and that certainly resonates from people involved. The compensation and benefits for the upper management are on par or better than for some of the peers, and a lot of perks kick in after several years of service at a given title. Many people seem to be able to find a decent work life balance and very few have to work more than 50 hrs/week.

Cons

There are few competent people that remain at Verizon. Too many managers and Directors "punched it in" and are just counting the years to their retiremen. Few talented individuals that remain find it very difficult to make meaninful changes in such discouraging setting. Unfortunately, copensation seems to be the only retention strategy, rather than focus on a general growth opportunities. My promotions came in without achieving any defined milestones, and there has been a lot of frustration in the company about the lack of transparency about promotions. Very few peole seem to have an idea about what senior management is really thinking, and many projects have to change course three or four times before they are finally completed.
