Thought Vans HQ would be cool, but it's just a bad corporate job
Pros
Health benefits, 401k matching. Office events can be fun but often happen during lunch or after work hours requiring people to stay late to enjoy company bonding.
Cons
Zero room for growth. The only people who get promoted get their position because their supervisor left the company. Super boring work, and you're expected to take on more and more with no pay raise in sight. People are cliquey and act like it's high school. The brand has completely lost sight of what made Vans iconic in the first place and are chasing microtrends, streetwear fashion, and virality instead of catering to their core fanbase: surfers and skaters. There is a general sense of doom and gloom around the office headquarters because people who have been here for years note a decline in job satisfaction, company events, etc. People who are new quickly realize there is no room for growth and new ideas are not considered at all. There is a high rate of turnover and there is little to no communication between departments. If you are considering a job here because, "it's Vans, it's cool!" think long and hard about that decision, because at the end of the day it's an open office floor plan where people come in sick and you are threatened by management about the hours you are physically in-office despite it being "flexible and hybrid!" No one cares if you live the "Vans values" or surf/skate/snowboard. Vans rewards corporate drones and the people at the top don't know anything about youth culture. Sure, there is some camaraderie, but it's because we're all on a sinking ship together.
