Pros

The benefits and perks such as ski passes, discounts at restaurants and retail outfits, insurance, and flexible scheduling are definitely pros. Working on the mountain is awesome! You meet great people and its a wonderful networking opportunity to help enhance your career in the future. This is generally seen as a stepping stone for most corporate employees who don't stay much longer than a year or two, then move on to bigger better things. Management does tend to stay longer, averaging maybe 4- years up to 20 years. Great learning experience.

Cons

Everyone is despensible. Little pay for a lot of responsibility, especially in the corporate atmosphere. Management tends to be those that have been there the longest, not necessarily those most qualified. I felt like this kind of divided the teams a bit in the different departments at corporate. Also, once an employee has served a number of years and begins to make a lot of money, my experience has been that these people are very valuable, but Vail seems to find a way to fire them or lay them off.

Pros

Cool Product - There is a lot more to Vail than just skiing. Vail Resorts runs ski resorts, lodging, food and beverage, retail, transportation, and real estate. Cool Perks - Free ski passes / lodging discounts (if available). Cool People - Most people share a passion for the product and the outdoors.

Cons

The Corporate workload is very big for low pay and vacation compared to market. Even if you can handle it, you work with a lot of colleagues on the edge of burnout.
